Baki Hanma is brought up by his affluent mother, Emi Akezawa, who supports his training with the aspiration of him becoming a formidable warrior akin to his father, Yujiro Hanma. As the series commences, Baki surpasses conventional training methods and embarks on a journey to emulate his father's merciless regimen, encountering numerous formidable fighters along the way. Ultimately, Baki confronts his father in combat but is defeated effortlessly. Emi intervenes in an attempt to save him but tragically loses her life at the hands of Yujiro, sparking intense resentment within Baki towards his father.
